CHERRY HILL
The Cherry Hill neighbourhood in Kitchener is midway through major change. The rubber industry was prominent here for more than a century. But all that is left is AirBoss, using just a portion of the former tire plant. The tire warehouse is now ultra hip Catalyst 137.
UW’s Pharmacy School sits in the bottom corner of Cherry Hill, and Google is right across the street. New condos are going up on Victoria and on King. Old is becoming new in many portions of Cherry Hill.
Housing in the area is mostly 2 storey detached from the early 1920’s and up. A mix of commercial, former industrial, and institutions like Grand River Hospital and KCI high school make up the balance.
The neighbourhood’s central location and instant access to the LRT are definite attractions. Shopping and nightlife are easily accessible too. The expressway is close at hand as is highway 7. The future of Cherry Hill is definitely on the upswing.
