Laurelwood in Waterloo’s west end is as good as it gets if you are looking for a contemporary suburban neighbourhood. Proximity to tons of nature, fantastic schools and gorgeous properties to choose from are big attractions.

It’s a large neighbourhood north of Columbia bounded by Fischer Hallman and Erbsville Rd. There are 3 distinct sections due to the central location of the Laurel Creek Reservoir and Nature Centre. Laurelwood ‘proper’ sits at the bottom with Conservation Meadows and the hamlet of Erbsville to the north east and north west respectively

The northern portions are still being built out with development completed in the remainder. Homes in the area date from the mid 1990s and into the present day for parts of Erbsville and the Conservation Meadows area. At some point the remaining vacant agricultural land, the go-kart track and Green Acres Trailer Park will be sold and developed as well.

Housing in Laurelwood typically consists of single detached two storey homes. There are bungalows too but these are far fewer in number. There’s a good selection of townhomes and some limited condominium developments. The area has little in the way of rentals although some new apartments are being built on Columbia by the fire station.

The local schools rank exceptionally high on EQAO and Fraser scores. But this is a large neighborhood with several sections feeding schools a bit further away so please use the schools look up below.

Neighbourhood attractions include Laurel Creek, the Stamm Woodlot, the Stork Family YMCA, The Boardwalk and Westhill Meadows Golf Course. The Farmers Market and the new Costco are nearby too. UW is reasonably close, just down the road on Columbia.
