Central Frederick is an urban neighbourhood just to the east of downtown Kitchener. It’s a perfect locale for commuters with access to the GO and Via Rail right up the road on Victoria. The expressway is on the eastern border and the 401 is 15 minutes away. Central Frederick is walkable and serviced by bus routes and the nearby LRT. 

Proximity to the downtown location means there is plenty to see and do. There’s the Museum, Centre in the Square, Weber Park, Victoria Park, nearby Rockway golf course and the Auditorium complex. Frederick Plaza is on the east side. And you’ve got lots choice for bars, shopping and restaurants in the core.

There’s lots of selection for groceries. The Frederick mall Valu-mart, Central Fresh Market and the Farmers Market are the closest and there’s 3 nearby Zehrs too. There are plenty of smaller shops downtown as well.

Public and Catholic Board Schools are local and walkable with the exception of St. Mary’s on Homer Watson.

This neighbourhood is almost entirely resisdential. Detached housing dates from the early 1900s into the 1950s. The earlier properties to the north west are typical brick 2 storeys with 3 or 4 bedrooms. Bungalows make up much of the newer sections of Central Frederick. Lot sizes are generous relative to new suburbia. There are just a few condo developments in the area; on Lancaster, and Mansion.

Central Frederick is ideal if you are looking for a quiet urban landscape that is still close to the action. You’ve got easy access for commuting and lots of choice for groceries. The classic architecture of the older sections is great if you’re a fan of older homes.
