Bridgeport and Kiwanis Park are two east end Kitchener neighbourhoods north of Victoria straddling the Grand River. They are on the outskirts of town so your best bet for expressway access is via Bridge St. to University or Lancaster to Bridgeport. There’s limited public transit on some of the main roads and into old Bridgeport.

Kiwanis Park is the newer of the two suburbs. This area would have been considered almost rural before the current development got underway in the mid 2000s. This is an upscale neighbourhood and some of the homes nearest the park are truly spectacular. There are quite a few of the original older properties left along Woolwich which stand in sharp contrast with the newer stuff. Part of this neighbourhood spills over the KW border (on Woolwich) into Waterloo’s University Downs suburb. 

Bridgeport was a hamlet 100 years back and you can still see this in the properties north of Bridge once you cross the Grand River. In addition to residences you’ll find a number of businesses in the older section and out in the Bridgeport Business Park. As you go east along Bridge the residential properties become much newer. Homes on the north side would be from the 1980s and 90s. South of Bridge Street just before the bend you’ll find a section of higher end homes that are very current.

There’s no shortage of sportsfields and nature in the area. It’s ideal if you own a canoe. Kiwanis Park is in the north end. RIM Park and Grey Silo Golf Course are just up the road and there’s a good selection of grocery stores close enough. Definitely check out Lancaster Smoke House and Golf’s Steak House for some tasty dining.
