Doon is a small, scenic, south end Kitchener neighbourhood sandwiched between Homer Watson and the Grand River. Conestoga College and the 401 mark the southern border, making this neighbourhood perfect for commuting.

The neighbourhood was formerly the Village of Doon, dating from the early 19th century. It was absorbed by Kitchener decades back and almost nothing of the original remains. Later development has occurred in a number of stages. There are homes from the the late 1960s into the 80s as well as contemporary properties that are 2010 vintage and newer.

Parts of the neighbourhood close to the river are very secluded and feature homes in a range of styles and ages. Many of these properties are situated on large lots with idyllic views of nature. The rest of the area is mostly single detached along with some student rental accommodations near the college.

The area is somewhat secluded. There are plenty of local schools and nearby groceries but these are all on the other side of busy Homer Watson. On the other hand, Doon is perfect if you have kids attending Conestoga College.

Local attractions include the Waterloo Region Museum, the Homer Watson Gallery and Doon Heritage Village. For nature lovers there’s the Agreement Forest and Homer Watson Park right beside the river. If you like golf, Doon Valley G.C. and Whistle Bear are good places to be.
